Jake Watkins
PT, DPT, Cert. DN
Jake earned his Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) from Western Carolina University in 2014 where he was apart of the inaugural DPT program. He also attended WCU in undergraduate, receiving high honors while achieving his bachelors degree. Jake treats many different problem areas across a wide range of ages. He has specialized training in the evaluation and treatment of the back pain using the MDT approach. He is also certified in dry needling where he uses tiny needles to effect dysfunctional tissues. Jake employs corrective exercise to restore functional movement, strength, and power for return to previous activities. Jake believes one of his biggest responsibilities is to empower his patients with education and encouragement. He wants each person to leave therapy having a better understanding of their body, particularly the region they are being seen for. He regularly stresses the resilience of the human body, the importance of regular exercise and fitness to help support joints, and educates on pain and it’s physiology.
When not in the clinic, Jake is likely with his wife and children, preferably outdoors somewhere. He enjoys community exercise with his F3 brothers and he is regularly signed up for some race or event to challenge himself physically. Jake also enjoys fellowship with his church family and supporting his western NC community.
