Daniel Musselwhite

PT, DPT, ATC

Dr. Daniel Musselwhite’s interest in sports and orthopedics began at a young age while participating in baseball, swimming, and recreational frisbee. After an injury in high school that sent him to physical therapy, he became interested in the field. With a passion for sports and for helping people, a new career pursuit began.

As a Division 1 scholarship swimmer at the University of Evansville in Indiana, he earned his degree in Athletic Training in combination with many athletic achievements. In 2014, Daniel began his graduate work at the top-ranked physical therapy division at Washington University of St. Louis in order to earn his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree to accompany his Athletic Training Certification. While in the program he gained valuable experiences in acute care, in-patient, neurological physical therapy, and outpatient practice. Following graduation, Dr. Musselwhite began his clinical practice in Tucson, Arizona at Athlon Physical Therapy.

While continuing to pursue clinical exploits, Daniel completed his Impact Trained Physical Therapist Certification (ITPT) in 2018, which is a specialty certification for physical therapists to manage patients with a concussion from adolescence to late adulthood. He also earned post-doctoral clinical certification on the topic of Pelvic Health through the American Physical Therapy Association’s Certificate Achievement in Physical Therapy- Pelvic (CAPP - Pelvic) level 1 in 2019.  Dr. Musselwhite continues to pursue further education and certification in pelvic floor dysfunctions within his clinical practice, in order to best aid the community in managing a common issue that is vastly under-served and often goes untreated. Currently, he serves on the Clinical Development Committee as a representative of the Tucson Region for the National Award-Winning Team Movement for Life. TMFL guides the excellence in clinical practice of over 100 active physical therapists/physical therapist assistants across the nation through continuing education and ensuring high levels of research on clinical decision-making. Daniel remains an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association and is a member of the Special Interest Group for Pelvic Health. He is also certified in Dry Needling.

His current interests in physical therapy include Student athletics, concussions, orthopedics, pelvic floor dysfunction, as well as recreational athletics.

Outside of the clinic, Daniel likes to participate in Cross Fit, hiking, and consuming copious amounts of good coffee.

  • I am a new patient and couldn't be happier with the care and attention I have been given. I'm making progress so it's encouraging to say the least. The entire staff is top notch and would highly recommend them to anyone.

  • I looked forward to each of my visits at "Movement for Life" Physical Therapy. The Therapists; Angelica, Marcie, Nyxie & staff were so great to work with, always positive, complementary, and helpful in fully explaining each treatment they had me do. I was amazed how some of the treatments completely alleviated some of the pain I was having in just a few minutes time. Thank you all for making it such a positive and enjoyable experience for me, and especially for those final ice pack treatments! I promise to continue doing all the exercises, that you taught me, each day,and I'm looking forward to the day that I can again play Pickleball! You are all amazing and I will definitely spread the good word about "Movement for Life"!!

  • From the moment I entered, the staff was friendly, courteous, and attentive. Mayra, Lorea, Nyxie, Angelica, Kristi, and Marcie were all top notch. No one wants to do physical therapy as it is indicative of a problem. However, the caring, careful guidance of this staff made the trips easy. A few laughs along the way were very welcome. Pushing me enough to make progress while listening intently to how I was doing was key. From the warm up to the ice down, each member of the staff was incredibly kind and knowledgeable. I can't express how appreciative I am of the thoughtful care I received and would certainly recommend this team to anyone! Thank you all for helping me along the path of recovery.

  • The staff is very caring. The attention to personal need, pain and safety are excellent. Amanda T realized a potential condition during my intake that required two MRI’s and three doctors to confirm. I recommend this office for one time or continuing physical therapy.
